Question 1

How much should I tip a private tour guide in Jamaica?

Accepted Answer

A 10–15% tip on the tour price is standard for private guides and drivers in Jamaica when service is good. For a full-day private tour, that's typically US$20–$40 per couple. Tips in US dollars or Jamaican dollars are both welcome, and they are not included in our quoted prices.

Question 2

How long does a typical private tour in Jamaica take?

Accepted Answer

Most private tours run 4–8 hours door-to-door, depending on your hotel and the attraction. Dunn's River Falls or Blue Hole from Montego Bay is usually a 6–7 hour day; Negril sunset tours run 4–5 hours; combo tours like YS Falls + Pelican Bar can stretch to a full 8-hour day. We confirm the exact timing when you book.

Question 3

How much is the Bob Marley Nine Mile tour from Montego Bay or Ocho Rios?

Accepted Answer

Private Bob Marley Nine Mile tours start around US$120–$180 per person from Ocho Rios and US$160–$220 per person from Montego Bay, including hotel pickup, air-conditioned transport, and the Nine Mile site entrance fee. Group rates drop with 4+ travelers — message us for an exact quote.

Question 4

Is the Black River Safari tour safe?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Black River Safari boats are licensed by the Jamaica Tourist Board, captained by experienced guides, and carry life vests for every passenger. Crocodile sightings happen from inside the boat at a safe distance. We only book with operators that meet JTB safety standards.

Question 5

Do I need a guided tour for ziplining or the Blue Hole?

Accepted Answer

Ziplines (Mystic Mountain, YS Falls, Chukka) require their on-site guides for safety — that's included in the attraction ticket. The Secret Blue Hole near Ocho Rios doesn't legally require a guide, but local guides are strongly recommended: the cliff jumps, rope swings, and trail down are easier and safer with someone who knows the route.

Question 6

What's the difference between a private tour and a group excursion?

Accepted Answer

A private tour is just your party, your driver, and a flexible schedule — you choose when to leave, how long to stay, and whether to add stops like a jerk lunch or craft market. Group excursions share a coach with 20–40 strangers on a fixed timetable. Private tours cost more per person but save time, skip lines, and let you customize the day.
